Outside my window…

Our cats are obsessed with heading outdoors. I’m not sure if they want to play with the squirrels or eat them. Either way, we have one leash and are taking them out individually when it’s warm- which is most of the time lately. We got all our training ideas from Adventure Cats.

I am reading… These three books this week. I can’t plow through nonfiction as quickly as I’d like these days. Reviews by the end of the month for sure.

I am thankful… that Grandad has Medicare to fall back on. We have a nurse coming out to the house every week, and we’ll soon have a home health aide twice a week to bathe him. We’ll still have plenty to do on our own, but every little bit helps.

I am wearing…  Probably something from ModCloth. All my favorite clothes come from them. Usually, a book themed t-shirt with a cardigan and jeans or yoga pants.

I am creating…  Words into sentences and paragraphs- every day. My Goose Island research is coming along nicely. I have about 500 index cards going. For reals. I’m real close to pulling the trigger and buying Scrivener. I had close to no discretionary income this month and I’m so far into the cards already that I just held off.

I am remodeling…  We found ourselves dangerously close to Owl Hardwood today and went in to browse their current selection. If you find yourself in Chicagoland, it’s worth a visit. I want a hardwood top for my island, and I think I found the perfect wood.

I am caffeinating… Myself. I haven’t been to Starbucks since Jan 31. I’ll give you my recipe-

First I bought these: Tiny Footprint Coffee Organic Cold Press Elixir and

Hario Mizudashi Cold Brew Iced Coffee Pot/Maker

And then I used them. It’s easy. Fill the filter with coffee, the pot with water and refrigerate for 24 hours. Then I pour the finished coffee into a mason jar and pour that into the Starbucks cup that I have been washing for the last 18 days. I knew I wouldn’t get over the hump without recreating my experience as much as possible. I fill the cup about halfway, add more cold water, almond milk, and sugar.  It’s so good. I don’t miss Starbucks at all except for their cups and straws.  🙂

I put the coffee on my amazon subscribe and save, and I get a few bags a month and always have coffee right here at home.
