You could easily spend the entire Summer building contraptions from this book. There are 25 in all. Plus, every activity is adaptable between elementary, middle and high school. The title is junk drawer science and although I have banned the junk drawer we had just about everything we needed in our garage and recycling bin. Anything you don’t have will be cheap at Home Depot.
The photos that are included make each step clear to understand, and you could just hand this book to your kids on a rainy day and let them go at it. Each activity also has a paragraph explaining the science behind it, and you can always expand on that with a simple youtube search of matching videos. There are sections on Energy, Structures, and Waves. We are trying to complete as many projects as we can before this title vanishes from my Kindle. To be honest, I’ll probably end up buying it because there is no way we can get through them all fast enough. I’ll even do a follow-up post with some pictures when we get to it. This gets a big thumbs up from our family.
I read a DRC in exchange for an honest review.
