Elementary and Middle-Grade Ages- Fiction

These are such fun books. They are graphic novels that you help write and draw in. The hardcover editions accentuate that “real book” feeling. How many times are kids asked to help illustrate one of their hardcover books? I’m going to go out on a limb and say- never.
You are the new recruit of the Doodle Agency, and you’ve been approached by Carl the Duck who is your guide. In book one, you have the job of fighting the giant space slugs. Carl tells you what to draw, from the luggage you need to the spaceship you will travel in.
I can’t say enough good things about these books. They are ideal for reluctant readers and have done wonders for my kid with dysgraphia. Drawing has never been his strong suit- but these books made our OT time fly by. I imagine that kids who love to draw will also enjoy adding their own art to the story.
If you are looking for a book for a road trip, airplane ride, or just a fun stocking stuffer either (or both) of these would work. And spoiler alert: there is a third volume being published in 2017!
I was given review copies of both these books by the super lovely people over at Workman Publishing. ( That’s me sucking up- cause books.)
